In this species of Kaunch, the pods are green in colour, and light red coloured hairs are seen on the beans. The flowers that grow on its plants are purple. Its pods are used to make vegetables. The branches, stems and leaves of this variety of plants are also used.
Field Preparation And Fertilizer
In Kaunch farming, deep ploughing is done in the beginning to prepare the field. After this, 10 to 15 carts of old cow dung manure have to be mixed well in the soil per hectare in the area. After mixing the manure with the soil, apply water to it. Then ploughing the soil after using powerful tractors, do two to three slant ploughing and make the field’s soil friable. Finally, level the area by placing a pat in the friable soil.
For planting seedlings in the flat field, prepare the meadows at the appropriate distance. Do not use chemical fertilizers in the cultivation of Kaunch because it is cultivated in medicinal form. However, if you still want to use chemical fertilizers, you can give 10 kg of urea per hectare after two months of planting.
Seeds Transplanting Time And Method
Kaunch seeds are planted in the form of seeds. First, the meadows are prepared at an appropriate distance in the field. After this, the seeds have to be planted on the ridge at a distance of one to one and a half metres. Moreover, Kaunch plants grow with support, for which one and a half to two metres high bamboo or wood is planted on the meadows. Plants grow well with the help of these woods. Since Kaunch plants require more water, the rainy season is most suitable for transplanting plants. During this, the sowing of seeds is done in the month of June. In places where there is no proper arrangement for irrigation, the sowing of seeds is done between March and April.
Kaunch plants need more irrigation. Therefore, its first irrigation is given immediately after transplanting. After this, moisture has to be maintained in the field till the time of seed germination. Thus, water the Kaunch plants once a week in the summer season and only when needed during the rainy season.
In Kaunch farming, weeding is done to protect the plants from weeds. Its first weeding is done 20 days after sowing the seed, and subsequent weeding is done at an interval of 25 days. Its plants require only 2 to 3 hoeing.

But powdery mildew, blight, whitefly infestation, insect attack and leaf spot are some of the diseases that can appear on plants. To prevent them, spray neem oil or neem decoction on the plants. After the pods are plucked, they are dried well in bright sunlight. After this, they are separated by machine or by hand and to be sold in the markets.
